June Chamber Luncheon Recap: Cabool Graduates Making a Difference at MSU-West Plains

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Chamber Luncheon! We were honored to welcome two proud Cabool High School graduates, Rachel Gibson and Justin Wade, who shared the many educational opportunities available at Missouri State University–West Plains.

Rachel Gibson, Director of the Veterinary Technician Program, spoke about the Associate Degree program that prepares students for careers in animal health. Students receive hands-on training with both small and large animals in classroom, farm, and clinical settings while preparing for the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE). The program features small class sizes, experienced instructors, and training that follows national veterinary education standards.

Justin Wade, Director of the TJ Swift House ASCEND Program, shared how the program supports students with autism and other neurodiverse needs as they transition to college. ASCEND provides individualized support in academics, social skills, independent living, and career readiness, helping students build confidence, independence, and the skills they need to succeed in college and beyond. The program is housed in the university’s Neurodiversity and Autism Center and is one of the first programs of its kind in southern Missouri.

Thank you, Rachel and Justin, for an informative presentation and for highlighting the outstanding opportunities available at Missouri State University–West Plains. We are proud to see Cabool graduates making a difference and helping students across our region achieve their goals.

Chamber Director Scarlett Smith also provided updates for members and thanked current Chamber Partners: TMB Reed Parts & Farm Supply, Midland Ag, Cabool Lease, Love's Pest Professionals, and Audrey Boyle, KW Local Realty.
